The Sierra de Tramontana or Serra de Tramuntana, as the locals call it, is a mountainous area located in the northeast of Majorca named after the wind that blows off it, the Tramontana wind. This mountain range is one of the most important areas in the Balearic Islands and is where you will find the island's highest mountain Puig Major. The Tramuntana was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2011, it is almost 90 kilometers long and extends from the municipality of Andratx, in the south, to Cap de Formentor in the north
