Astorga is a historic city located in the province of León , in the autonomous community of Castile and León , Spain. Situated in a strategic position between the Meseta Central plateau and the mountains of the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, it has been an important crossroads for centuries, especially linked to the Silver Route (Vía de la Plata) and the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago).
