La Alcarria region

La Alcarria is a historic natural region that extends mainly across the provinces of Guadalajara and Cuenca , as well as a small part of Madrid. Famous for its rolling countryside, olive groves, lavender fields, and charming villages, it is one of the most attractive rural destinations in central Spain.

The region gained widespread recognition thanks to Camilo José Cela's book "Journey to the Alcarria," which immortalized its landscapes and traditions. Among its most notable towns are Brihuega , known for its spectacular lavender fields; Pastrana , with its significant historical heritage; and Cifuentes , famous for its medieval buildings.

The Alcarria region is also renowned for its rich gastronomy, especially for Alcarria Honey , the first Spanish honey with Protected Designation of Origin status. Its castles, convents, historic squares, and extensive natural areas complete a cultural and scenic offering of great interest.
