La Gomera is one of the eight islands that make up the archipelago of the Canary Islands. It is located 40 km away from Tenerife and can be accessed both by boat and by plane from Tenerife and Gran Canaria. This small island is a Natural Biosphere Reserve so it has managed to stay away from mass tourism and protect its environment. Thus, La Gomera conserves great landscapes and virgin beaches in addition to the Garajonay National Park, where the highest peak of the island is located and a large forest of intense green laurel forest that make it a place magical, declared a World Heritage Site since 1981, and the main attraction on the island. If you travel to La Gomera you will be able to discover not only Garajonay, but cities full of charm, cliffs, beaches away from the hustle and bustle and a history rooted in agriculture where the Canarian palm tree played a fundamental role. Little remains of that agriculture, but the traditional elaboration of guarapo, palm sap whose cooking turns it into palm honey, the main product of the island, is still preserved. Among the peculiarities of La Gomera is also the silbo gomero, a form of language that is still preserved and was used to communicate between ravines.
