Medieval walls of Alcudia
The medieval walls of Alcudia, located in the northeast of Mallorca (Spain), are the oldest on the island and were declared a Artistic Historic Site in 1974. This six meter high wall, It was built, in the first place, under the mandate of King Jaume II to protect the municipality from the constant attacks of pirates who, at that time, looted all the areas of the Mediterranean coast. Its construction began in the 14th century, although it suffered several attacks that left it almost completely demolished, which is why, during the reign of Felipe II, at the end of the 16th century, a new Renaissance construction phase began that would be demolished again in late nineteenth century due to the strategic location of Alcudia. Currently, two gates of the original wall are still preserved: the Moll Gate and the Sant Sebastiá Gate and the moat. Only the bastion of Sant Ferran remains from the second construction, where a bullring was built. If you visit Alcudia, the first thing you will see when you arrive in the town are its iconic walls where you can access the highest part and contemplate unique views.
Roman city of Pollentia
Pollentia, was a Roman city founded after the conquest of Mallorca by Quinto Cecilio Metelo in the year 123 BC and it marks the beginning of urban life on the island. Thanks to its location ;strategic, between the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia, Pollentia was the most important city of Roman times in the Balearic Islands. Currently you can visit the areas of the gate (Portella), the Forum, and the Theater, in the town of Alcudia.La Portella is the residential area, which contains remains of three domus or houses and of the road route that unites them. In the central area of Pollentia are the remains of the Foro, the square of the city where archaeological work is still being carried out. Among the most outstanding remains are the Capitoline Temple, two smaller temples and a large set of Tabernae (commercial area). Located on the outskirts of the city in a southerly direction, ;very close to the place where the port would have been located in Roman times, the theater is one of the elements most representative of the whole complex. The Roman theatrehas the particularity that it is excavated in the rock, taking advantage of the natural unevenness of the area, which is why a large part of its structure is preserved, in which the cavea, the orchestra and the stage can be seen. .

Useful information for traveling to Alcudia
The walls of Alcudia are among the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Mallorca. Built primarily between the 13th and 14th centuries during the reign of Jaume II to protect the city from pirate attacks, they encircle the historic center with a perimeter of approximately 1.5 km and a height of nearly 6 meters. Their layout includes 26 defensive towers, and historic gates such as the Porta del Moll and the Porta de Sant Sebastià are still standing. Today, they form part of a Historic-Artistic Site, and visitors can walk along their ramparts, offering a clear view of Alcudia's strategic importance in the Middle Ages.
