Day 1:

Arrival in Mallorca: discovering the historic center of Palma

Upon arrival at Palma de Mallorca airport, you will pick up your rental car to head to your hotel in Palma. If there is not too much traffic, in 20 minutes you will have arrived. Once you settle into your 4* accommodation, it's time to get to know the city center. Palma is a very lively city full of culture and history where you will also find bars, cafes, restaurants and nightlife areas where you can have a drink. Our recommendation is that you start with the lively Calle de Jaime III and lose yourself in its surrounding streets. The first recommendation for your itinerary today is that you go to see the Cathedral of Santa María, known by Majorcans as la Seu. Declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1931, the cathedral of Mallorca is located in a privileged location, facing the sea, and is of incomparable beauty, not only because it has the largest rose window in the Gothic world, but also because of its built structure in three naves and its huge gates, which do not lack detail.

Under the cathedral, you can walk through the Parc de la Mar, a park with a large saltwater lake. This park is the epicenter of a wide variety of events and concerts and is located in front of the medieval walls that surround the entire area. At the foot of the cathedral, next to the Parc de la Mar, there is also s'Hort des Rei, a small garden with a Muslim arch and a pond from which various fountains emerge along the length, reminiscent of to the gardens of the Generalife of the Alhambra but in miniature. In these gardens you can take the opportunity to sit down to rest or take photos. Of course, do not miss the lake that is located between the walls and that is home to two swans, much loved by the people of Palma and, above all, by children.

Yes lunchtime is approaching, we recommend that you do it in the La Lonja area where there are a wide variety of restaurants along its small alleys and take the opportunity to visit the civil Gothic building of La Lonja, built due to the great commercial activity that was in the port of Palma. Here merchants met and trade agreements and banking operations were carried out. It currently hosts temporary exhibitions and admission is free. It is closed at noon, so if you want to visit it, it is better to do it in the morning or in the afternoon.

To end the afternoon, nothing better than walking around the Borne> and makeshopping in Jaime III, the urban center par excellence for Mallorcans. There you will also find many cafes and bars as well as a Spanish department store. If you feel like having a typical snack, we recommend that you order a llonguet. It is a type of sandwich made with a typical roll from the city of Palma. In fact, people from Palma are called “llonguets” and the sandwich made with this bread is known as “llagosta”, lobster in Majorcan. That's because they say it's hotter than that crustacean. The favorite of most Mallorcans is the llonguet or sobrassada lobster, although there are all kinds of them: cheese, Serrano ham, squid, Mallorcan fried... and the most emblematic place to eat them is at the mythical Barc Bosch, open since 1936. If you have time, you can lose yourself in the surrounding streets or continue shopping on San Miguel street.

Finally, in the center of Palma you will find many places where you can sit down for dinner. On weekends the city is very lively and you can even enjoy a good afternoon. An activity that has become fashionable and that consists of starting the party after eating to avoid staying up late. The liveliest areas of Palma are Paseo Mallorca, Paseo Marítimo, la Lonja and our favourite: Santa Catalina. In them you will find restaurants, bars, cafes and places where you can have a drink and listen to good music.

Day 2:

Valldemossa, Sóller and sunset in Sa Foradada

On today's route you will discover the fabulous Sierra de Tramuntana, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. To do this, you will visit the beautiful town of Valldemossa and the Real Cartuja; Sóller and its port and you will end the day with one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island at the Mirador de Sa Foradada, in Deià. These three mountain towns are next to each other so the route will be very pleasant and you will be able to enjoy the incredible landscape of the Tramontana.

The first stop will be Valldemossa, one of the favorite towns in Mallorca for its cobbled streets and its fairytale houses. Here you can visit the Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa and its gardens, stroll through its streets and, of course, try its traditional potato coca. A typical sweet from Valldemossa that is usually eaten with chocolate in winter and with almond horchata in summer. After touring its streets, the next stop on your route by car will be Sóller. This municipality has valleys of orange trees, a very cultural historical center and a fantastic port where you can reach with the famous old electric tram. Once you arrive in the historic center of Sóller, you can start by discovering the main square: Plaza de la Constitución. Here you will find the town hall, the imposing Church of Sant Bartomeu and the Bank of Sóller, both modernist style buildings. Through this square you will reach the commercial street of Calle Luna, where you can do some shopping in its local shops and discover some of the old Majorcan bourgeois farmhouses. In the center of Sóller you will also find ice cream parlors, bars and restaurants.

If lunchtime approaches, our recommendation is that you eat in the lively Puerto de Sóller. In the same Plaza de la Constitución you can get on the tram that will take you to it. Although it is true that you can also get there by car, getting on this centennial tram is an experience that you should not miss. When you arrive at the port, you will discover a beach where you can take a dip if the weather allows it and a promenade full of bars, restaurants, shops and souvenir shops. Enjoy the pleasant walk, sit in one of its restaurants and relax watching the sea.

In the afternoon, it is important to be on time at the viewpoint of Sa Foradada to enjoy the sunset. If you want, you can first pass through the pretty town of Deià or, if you have little time, go directly to this viewpoint. In the spring and summer months you will find a small mountain beach bar where you can have a drink watching the fabulous sunset over the sea. If you travel in winter, it does not matter. The sunset is just as beautiful even if there is no beach bar.

Day 3:

Alcudia, Alcudia beach and Puerto de Alcudia

Alcudia has been awarded in 2022 as the most beautiful town in Spain for what we thought could not be missing from your route by car through Mallorca. From Palma to Alcudia there are about 45 minutes by car but it is well worth it to visit this Roman town full of history, walls and narrow streets full of charm. The road that will take you is very easy and comfortable since it is mostly a highway. There are no curves or dangerous elements so the journey will be very calm. Once you arrive in Alcudia you will see the fabulous medieval wall, it is time to park to continue the visit on foot. Right in front of the wall and the church, there is a free public parking. Strolling through its streets you will find the beautiful church of San Jaime, patron saint of the town; the Porta des Moll, the Town Hall, the Paseo de la Victoria with its lively bars, restaurants and shops and where the local market is set up Sundays. Get lost in its streets and Roman walls and, if you want to know a little more about its history, go to the Pollentia site, where there is a theater, forum and portella of the ancient Roman city and where they still continue archaeological excavations.

If you are looking for a restaurant where you can have lunch, in the town you will find a great offer: tapas, pa amb olis, traditional Majorcan food, Italian food, hamburgers and meats... Choose the one you like best and enjoy one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca and in Spain. At the end, you cannot miss the bay of Alcudia, one of the largest in the Balearic Islands, with kilometers of white sand and turquoise water. In this bay you will find Alcudia beach and, next to it, Playas de Muro , so you can take a walk on both or visit just one of them. Both one and the other are just as impressive whether you travel in summer or winter.

To end this day, there is no better way than doing it in the lively Puerto de Alcudia where you will find shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, playgrounds and game rooms for children and youth. In addition, there is also a small beach and a beautiful promenade where you can see the typical traditional boats of the Balearic Islands and enjoy the sunset.

Day 4:

Pollença, Formentor Lighthouse and Puerto Pollença

Today it's time to visit another of the three most beautiful towns in Spain located in Mallorca: Pollença. This coastal municipality is a short distance from Alcudia and has a most beautiful historic center. You can start by discovering its narrow streets, its church, its Main Square and its beautiful Majorcan houses. Lose yourself in its streets and climb El Calvario, a steep hill with 365 steps that ends in a beautiful church (Iglesia del Calvario) and a viewpoint from where you can see the best views of Pollença. In the Plaza Mayor you will find restaurants and bars where you can sit down to eat or have a drink on their terraces. On Sunday, in this same square you can also enjoy its market: fruits, vegetables, flowers, clothes, handicrafts... Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful markets in Mallorca. If you like art, you can also visit the Pollença Museum, with paintings and archaeological pieces by various artists. Enjoy the day in Pollença and, in the afternoon, head towards the Formentor Lighthouse to see one of the most impressive sunsets. If you travel outside the summer months, you can go up to the lighthouse by car, otherwise you can only do it by public transport since in summer they close the road to private vehicles for safety and conservation of the environment. Even so, getting there is easy since the bus leaves from Puerto de Pollença. You will recognize it because it is yellow and red in color and has a luminous sign that indicates the destination where it takes you.

After contemplating this fabulous spectacle of nature, it is time to go to the Puerto de Pollença where you can dine in one of its elegant restaurants facing the sea and drink some relaxed drink. Pollença is a calm place so enjoy the tranquility and beauty of its surroundings.
