The Penedes

El Penedès is a region located 40 km south of Barcelona made up of six municipalities: Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès, Garraf, Alt Camp, Anoia and Baix Llobregat. Known for its production of high-quality wines and cavas, in the Penedès Denomination of Origin there are more than 24,000 hectares of vineyards registered that are worked by almost 3,000 winegrowers. El Penedès has more than 300 wineries and a privileged location that has allowed it to be the largest producer of wines and cavas in Catalonia due to being in a plain protected by mountains next to the sea where the mild Mediterranean climate prevails and a land rich in match.
