Italian Riviera

The Italian Riviera is one of Italy 's most beautiful and diverse coastal destinations, renowned for its combination of picturesque villages, Mediterranean landscapes, and a rich cultural and culinary tradition. Located along the Ligurian Sea , between the French border and the Tuscany region, the Italian Riviera is characterized by its dramatic cliffs, secluded bays, historic harbors, and mild climate, making it an ideal year-round destination.

The Riviera is divided into two main areas: the Riviera di Ponente , west of Genoa , and the Riviera di Levante , east of the city. The Riviera di Ponente features destinations such as Sanremo , known for its music festival and elegant promenade; Alassio , famous for its sandy beaches; and Finale Ligure , highly regarded for its historic center and natural landscapes. This area combines traditional villages with modern tourist resorts and expansive beaches, many of which are easily accessible.

The Riviera di Levante is especially famous for its rugged landscape and towns of great historical value. Here you'll find the iconic Cinque Terre , comprised of Monterosso al Mare , Vernazza , Corniglia , Manarola , and Riomaggiore , a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other notable destinations include Portofino , a symbol of elegance and exclusivity, Santa Margherita Ligure , Rapallo , and Portovenere , all characterized by colorful houses, small harbors, and spectacular sea views.

The gastronomy of the Italian Riviera is one of its greatest attractions, based on Mediterranean cuisine and high-quality local products. Dishes such as Genovese pesto , focaccia, fresh fish, seafood, and Ligurian olive oil are essential parts of the experience. Thanks to its excellent transport network, coastal routes, scenic trails, and its balance between nature, culture, and the Italian lifestyle, the Italian Riviera offers a complete and authentic tourist experience, ideal for combining beaches, charming villages, and gastronomy in an incomparable Mediterranean setting.
