Naples

Naples is a city in southern Italy, capital of the Campania region and the province of Naples. It is the third most populated city in Italy, with a population of 955,428 inhabitants. This city was founded by the Greeks in the 8th century BC. C., and since then it has been an important commercial and cultural center. Naples is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, with a lively cultural and nightlife. The city has a variety of museums, art galleries, theaters and restaurants as well as a beautiful coastline, the Amalfi Coast. Some of the most popular attractions in Naples are the old town; the Castillo del Ovo, a medieval castle that dominates the city; the Teatro San Carlo, one of the oldest and most prestigious opera houses in the world; theSistine Chapel of Naples, a chapel that houses a series of frescoes from the 16th century; the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, one of the most important archaeological museums in Italy, and the icing on the cake: the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD and where you can see people petrified because of the lava.
