El Jadida
El Jadida is a coastal city located on Morocco 's Atlantic coast, about 100 kilometers south of Casablanca , known for its rich historical heritage and tranquil seaside atmosphere. A former Portuguese enclave, the city blends European and Moroccan influences, offering visitors a different and less crowded cultural experience than other destinations in the country.
The main attraction of El Jadida is the Portuguese City , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a fortified enclosure that preserves walls, bastions, and buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries. Inside, the famous Portuguese Cistern stands out, an underground space of great architectural beauty whose reflection of light and water creates a unique and highly photogenic atmosphere.
Beyond its rich historical heritage, El Jadida offers a pleasant coastal lifestyle, with long urban beaches , a lively port, and seafront promenades perfect for enjoying the Atlantic. The city maintains a relaxed and authentic pace, with cafes, local markets, and a cuisine based on fresh fish and traditional Moroccan dishes.
Thanks to its proximity to Casablanca , its rich heritage, and its relaxed atmosphere, El Jadida is an ideal destination for cultural getaways and seaside stays. Its blend of history, ocean, and local life makes it a perfect choice for discovering a different side of Morocco—one that is more tranquil, historic, and authentic.
