On your stopover in Valencia we propose several options: one, stay in the city and discover the historic center. This cathedral houses the famous Holy Chalice inside. Another highly recommended option is to visit the City of Arts and Sciences, an impressive complex of futuristic buildings made up of a planetarium, the science museum, the palace of arts and the Oceanogràfic, the largest oceanarium in Europe. If you like nature, you can take an excursion to the Albufera de Valencia, a coastal lagoon where there is a great wealth of migratory birds and where rice is grown, famous for being the main ingredient in paella. , typical Valencian dish. If what you like is the beach, Malvarrosa is an excellent option due to its proximity to the center, its white sand and its promenade full of restaurants and bars.

Day 3:

Navigation

Enjoy the day of sailing by visiting the corners of your MSC Seaview cruise that you have yet to see, take the opportunity to do a dance class or stay by the pool having a cocktail. You can also go to the gym or book a massage at the spa. Shops, salons, restaurants, casino, game room, hairdresser... Today is the day to have fun, take care of yourself and relax.

Day 4:

Livorno (Florence/Pisa, Italy)

Arrival in Livorno at 7am and departure from the port at 8pm.

Livorno is a port city in Tuscany that you can visit on your cruise stopover or, alternatively, visit other nearby cities such as La Spezia, Florence or Pisa. If you stay in the city of Livorno, you can visit some of the most relevant places of interest such as the Venezia Nuova, the oldest and most picturesque neighborhood of the city where you can see the canals, the bridges, the houses. of colors; the Mascagni Terrace, an elegant promenade with a checkerboard-shaped floor and spectacular views of the sea and the islands; and the Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum, which has a collection of paintings by Macchiaioli, a precursor of Impressionism. Also take advantage, since you have enough time, to sit in a restaurant and try their local cuisine based on fish and seafood, such as cacciucco, the typical Livorno fish soup, or baccalà alla livornese. Of course you are in Italy, you will find fresh pasta, pizza and artisan ice cream. To finish off, a good Italian coffee and, why not, some liqueur like Amaro or a good wine.

If you prefer to take advantage of the stopover in Livorno to visit other nearby cities, you can take the train from the Central Station to get to Florence or Pisa, or choose some of the organized excursions.

Useful tips on your free visit to Florence or Pisa

If you decide to go to Florence or Pisa, it is important that you keep in mind that:

  • Most of the monuments in Florence and Pisa require an entrance ticket. We recommend that if you go on your own, you book them online well in advance so as not to miss anything and avoid long lines.
  • Although there are those who are encouraged to see the 2 cities on a single cruise stopover, our recommendation is that you don't do it. This way you will not be able to visit the most emblematic monuments of Florence, a city of art and culture that requires time. It is better to know a city well than to visit two cities without seeing anything.
  • Trains in Italy may not be punctual or suffer last-minute cancellations. Try to get your return ticket to the port with enough time to avoid possible disappointments. Please note that the cruise will leave the port at the scheduled time without exceptions.

Day 5:

Civitavecchia (Rome, Italy)

Arrival at the port of Civitavecchia at 07:00 and departure at 19:00. From here you can reach the historic city of Rome, which is 80km away. You can take a train, a bus or a taxi or opt for the most comfortable option and book one of the MSC excursions. If you choose to go on your own, the train is the fastest and cheapest way to get there. The station is just a 10-minute walk from the port of Civitavecchia and a train runs approximately every 15 minutes. The journey lasts between 47 minutes and 1 hour and 20 minutes, depending on the train you choose. Once in Rome, you can get off at the Roma Termini station, which is the most central.

Rome is a city with a large number of tourist attractions so, if you only have one day , it is better to focus on the most relevant monuments. Depending on the time you want to be in the city and the pace, you can decide to visit all the monuments or choose some of them and enjoy more time to sit and enjoy on a terrace or go shopping. If you have never visited Rome, it is best to start the day by visiting theColosseum. You can book your skip-the-line ticket or a guided tour to save time. It is a monument with so much history that we believe it is essential to go with a guide to know everything that happened in this gladiator amphitheater. Once you visit the Colosseum, visit the Roman Forum and the Palatine, where the emperors lived. Then you can go to the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II, the Venice Square and get closer to the Navona Square where the Fountain of the Four Rivers is located, and the Church of Saint Agnes of Agony. From Piazza Navona, you can go to the Pantheon. To finish, you can't leave without throwing a coin into the famous Trevi Fountain. If you still have time and desire, you can visit the Vatican. It is far from the center so you will have to take a bus. Here you can visit Saint Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, where you can admire Michelangelo's frescoes. If you book your skip-the-line ticket, you won't waste as much time.

What will you see today?

Visit Rome on your MSC Seaview cruise stopover

If you have never visited Rome, it is difficult on a cruise stop to see everything. It is advisable to choose if you prefer to see the Vatican, tour the city or visit the Colosseum. Please note that visits to the interior of the Vatican and the Colosseum take time and there are usually queues, especially in high season. It is better to go at your own pace than to try to cover too much and see nothing. If you like history and want to know the city in depth, a guided tour is a very good option to go in peace and not stress with trains, buying tickets and queues. If you are interested in any excursion in Rome, consult your travel agent.

Day 6:

Genoa (Italy)

Genoa is a historic and vibrant city that offers a wealth of tourist attractions for those lucky enough to stop over on a cruise ship. From the impressive St. Lawrence Cathedral to the picturesque old port, this city has something for everyone. In addition, visitors can enjoy delicious Italian food, such as pesto pasta or typical focaccia, in the city's many restaurants and cafes. As an essential visit, go to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and visit the Treasure Museum, where relics, jewels and works of great value are displayed. If you want to know the past and present of Genoa, we recommend that you visit the historic center, the largest in Europe and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In its narrow and labyrinthine streets, you can admire palaces, churches, squares and museums of great beauty and historical value. Some notable places areFerrari Square, the Doge's Palace, the Royal Palace and St. Matthew's Square. If you want to enjoy panoramic views of the city, you can go up to the Castelletto neighborhood, located on Righi Hill. From the Spianata Castelletto, a viewing point with a terrace, you can contemplate the towers, roofs, domes and gardens of Genoa. To get to the viewpoint, you can take the public elevator that leaves from Piazza Portello, near Via Garibaldi. The price of the elevator is paid but it is almost symbolic. If you like the sea or if you travel with children, you may want to visit the Genoa Aquarium, the most largest in Italy and the second in Europe. The aquarium is home to around 600 different species, including sharks, dolphins, penguins, jellyfish and turtles. The aquarium is located in the old port, where you can also see the Neptune Galleon, a replica of the ship used in Roman Polanski's Pirates movie.
